Expansion Project
In response to rising community need for services and the fact that our facility had reached program capacity, L.A. CADA embarked
on a facility improvement to upgrade, improve and expand our current 45-year-old administrative and largest outpatient services facility located in Santa Fe Springs. The building was the original home of the Santa Fe Springs Drilling Company and never intended for the purpose of providing human services to community members in need.
The remodeled program area will add a NEW two-room community medical clinic, an HIV/AIDS program office, a drop-in Wellness Center, 12 new individual counseling rooms, three group meeting rooms, a multi-purpose room, two outdoor patios, and a sports court. A Parenting Center with a designated child care area will also be incorporated. In addition, the kitchen, bathrooms, building facade, landscaping and entrance will be
renovated and improved along with operational efficiencies.
The renovations will present a more welcoming environment to clients while also adding safety elements. Once completed, we expect the newly revitalized center to be able to meet current and future client demand with innovation, safety and efficiency for many years.
Project Description: Anticipated Outcomes
- To serve 500 more individuals/families within 3 years
- To see 1,500 visitors to the community clinic for immunizations/health screenings and medication assisted drug treatment therapies within a year
- To serve 500 annually for HIV/AIDS
testing/counseling services
Whatever the increase in client numbers served, it cannot be as important as the change our many services bring to people's lives. Research shows that prevention and treatment programs are successful when programs serve both the individual and the family, emphasize lifestyle changes and retain clients for a minimum treatment episode.
California's Little Hoover Commission also found that when done right, treatment is a cost effective way to improve public safety and keep families whole (2008).
Numerous studies have found that for those who complete their treatment programs, drug and alcohol use decreases, arrests go down and general health, family life and social status improves.
