Allen House Residential Services
Program Goals:
The Allen House is a residential drug and alcohol treatment center, named for co-founders Dr. and Mrs. Ethan Allen, it offers individuals an opportunity for a new beginning in their lives. The program provides inpatient counseling and transitional housing as needed. The Allen House focuses on behavior modification in a therapeutic community setting to help graduating residents successfully participate in society as sober members.
Program Staffing:
Staff include substance abuse professionals and masters level clinicians who function as a team to support the highest quality treatment.

Program Services:
- Comprehensive psychosocial assessment and evaluation
- Crisis intervention and referral
- HIV Prevention Education
- Case Management
- Individual and family counseling
- Psycho-educational and process groups
- Emphasis on relapse prevention, honesty, and responsibility
- Drug-free recreational and leisure time activities
- Job preparation and placement
- Enhanced program for persons living wih HIV or AIDS
- Specialized care for the substance abusing mentally ill who can function within a therapeutic community setting
- Allen House graduates can return for support or activity participation at any time
- Graduates become members of the Alumni Association and participate in Aftercare counseling
Program Eligibility:
- Presence of substance use which has led to health, legal, social, family, employment, and/or psychological problems
- 18 years or older
- At least a 3rd grade reading ability
- No outstanding warrants or unresolved court cases
- Not in current need of medically supervised detox or methadone
- No medical or mental health conditions that would prevent full program participation or require intensive medical care
- Indigent applicants must have a driver's license and social security card to assist with access to public benefits for room and board
- Priority for admission goes to referrals who are homeless, HIV+, IV drug users, pregnant women, have DCFS cases, or DPSS GR cases
