| Los
Angeles Centers for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, (L.A. CADA) is a non-profit
community agency dedicated to providing the highest quality treatment
and prevention of substance abuse, HIV/AIDS, and related problems
for Los Angeles County communities. The agency strives to
create and maintain a comprehensive network of services and support
that will improve health and quality of life for individuals and
families. Our goal is to respond positively, creatively, and
with "best practices" to the varied needs of those we
serve.
L.A.
CADA was founded in 1971 through the efforts of concerned citizens,
including Dr. Ethan and Mrs. Alice Allen. Over 7000 individuals
and families receive recovery, education, and other services from
the agency annually. L.A. CADA has regularly added new programs
throughout the years, growing in range and scope to include
two residential and three outpatient sites, as well as a variety
of community outreach activities.
L.A.
CADA receives referrals from the community, social services agencies,
educational institutions, child welfare services, managed care companies,
and law enforcement agencies. Special populations include
the homeless, dually diagnosed, Spanish-speaking, and women with
children.
The four
